Kyndle Wylde has reacted to her win in the Mixtape Music Competition, describing the experience as “very surreal.”

The results were revealed on Tuesday, with Wylde taking top honors in the competition. Expressing her gratitude and disbelief, she shared her excitement about the victory.

Hailing from the Memphis area, Wylde grew up singing in her family’s church band before moving to Nashville to chase her musical aspirations. For this competition, participants from around the country submitted their versions of Johnny Nash’s classic hit “I Can See Clearly Now.”

Out of hundreds of entries, Wylde emerged as the winner after a rigorous selection process that narrowed the field down to 14 semifinalists and then three finalists.

She noted the high level of talent across the country and emphasized her commitment to delivering a performance she felt confident about. Her husband, Adam, crafted the soulful arrangement of the song that she and her band performed.

In a playful moment, Wylde recounted how she kept her win a secret from her grandmother, knowing that news would quickly spread if she found out.

Before the official announcement, co-host Gayle King surprised Wylde with the news, initially leading her to believe she was discussing marketing or advertising.
